Well, welcome to Femmesplaining. I'm Jenna.
00:00:14
I'm Ray. That's Ray.
00:00:16
And today we are joined by Miss Cherish Chen.
00:00:20
Hi Cherish, How are you? I'm good.
00:00:23
Thank you so much for having me. Well, thank you for gracing us
00:00:28
with your presence today. Yeah, thank you so much for
00:00:30
making time. Oh, of course, it's just this.
00:00:34
It is an honor to be here. Yeah, and you, you were briefly
00:00:39
telling us before, this is the first time you've gotten to talk
00:00:42
about your new Doctor Aphra series post release, right?
00:00:47
Yes, more in this format, Yeah, being able to talk a little bit
00:00:50
more about. So we're two issues in the third
00:00:55
issue is coming out next week, next Wednesday.
00:00:57
So yeah, we can talk a little bit about what's going on and
00:01:01
kind of, you know, I don't know if you guys ever want to talk
00:01:04
about it once more of a doubt, we can do that too.
00:01:06
But but yeah, no, the the series is in the middle of its run now,
00:01:12
right? What part?
00:01:13
Where are you in Arizona? I'm all the way like in Phoenix,
00:01:18
so right in the dead center of disgusting heat.
00:01:23
Yeah, yeah, No, I so weird. Yeah.
00:01:24
When you went to the side were like, was that you?
00:01:27
Yes, we can hear you now. Go ahead, please.
00:01:29
Yeah. No, no, I did.
00:01:32
Yeah. Ray.
00:01:33
Ray is in Arizona doing being hot I guess, right?
00:01:37
The cactus life. Where are where are you?
00:01:42
Cherish? Where are you located?
00:01:44
I'm in Los Angeles. OK, I I see.
00:01:48
It's like 100° there or something.
00:01:50
It's like really hot right now, right?
00:01:52
It's also quite warm, Yeah, like late, late summer is always the
00:01:56
hottest, which is rough. I'm also in the place called San
00:02:00
Gabriel Valley, which is not the San Fernando Valley, not the
00:02:04
valley, the other valley. But so it also gets quite, it
00:02:07
gets quite warm. But yeah, no, I've been here.
00:02:11
Like basically I grew up in Southern California and then
00:02:14
went to school at USC, so I've never really left, but I'm
00:02:18
hopefully going to go to New York for a New York Comic Con.
00:02:20
We'll see. It's a little ambitious, yeah.
00:02:24
I don't know if you both are be going to be able to go.
00:02:27
I'm going to see if I can. I'm hope.
00:02:29
I'm hoping I can swing like a 48 hour like run, run through Comic
00:02:36
Con. So we'll see.
00:02:38
Oh, that would be awesome. I go.
00:02:40
It's my I always call it like my hometown con, even though I live
00:02:44
like I live on Long Island. So I'm about an hour and. 1/2
00:02:46
the city. But it was like my first, my
00:02:49
first convention ever. And it's like I I've gone since
00:02:53
damn it, damn it. I've gone since like 2013.
00:02:58
So I'm super excited. If you get to come, that would
00:03:00
be awesome. Oh my gosh, I've wanted to go to
00:03:02
New York, 'cause I, I, I go to San San Diego.
00:03:04
Obviously that's 'cause it's more local to me, but yeah, I've
00:03:08
been wanting to go to New York for a long time because with my
00:03:11
first comic book series of Radiant Red, there was like a
00:03:16
lot of my, the person I worked with Kyle Higgins on that, he,
00:03:20
he does a big New York thing. So I was trying to go like 2
00:03:24
years ago when the book came out, but I was, that's when I
00:03:27
had my first son, my first child.
00:03:29
So I was like freshly. I was like, man, I'm always
00:03:32
timing these out in a really bad, not a bad way, but a tough
00:03:36
way for me to be able to hit these cons that I would love to
00:03:39
go to. You know, like AC2E2.
00:03:43
I still haven't been to either. But yeah, New York I'm excited
00:03:48
for, and it's like the big Marvel one, because Marvel's
00:03:50
there. So yeah, hopefully, hopefully we
00:03:54
can make it. But yeah, there's a little bit
00:03:56
of a psych. Keep us keep us posted if if
00:03:59
you're there for it. Yeah.
00:04:02
But Ray and I are huge Star Wars nerds, right, Ray?
00:04:08
Yes, definitely. I will admit though, I don't
00:04:11
really know all that much about AFRA SO.
00:04:16
That's OK This room, this will will convert you maybe.
00:04:20
Please. Oh, easily last night I was, I
00:04:24
was sending right? Like all the articles I've
00:04:26
written about Afra, I'm like, here's your homework.
00:04:28
It's it's like 10 articles that I've written about her.
00:04:31
Oh my God, she's she, I, I, I didn't, I didn't learn about her
00:04:37
when she so she debuted in 2016. So it was quite a while ago.
00:04:40
Like it's coming on 10 years. Can you believe it?
00:04:43
God, that's. Crazy.
00:04:45
It's wild. It's so crazy.
00:04:46
And I actually didn't hear about her until like probably a couple
00:04:51
years after her run was like Dylan's run was going and I
00:04:58
heard about Sarah Kuhn's audio drama and all that stuff.
00:05:01
And anyway, they've done a ton of cool things with her since.
00:05:06
But yeah, she's it's, it's, it's wild how long she's been around.
00:05:09
And then it's like this very super popular, but very niche
00:05:12
for like a very kind of for for Star Wars fans who read comics,
00:05:16
obviously, right. So it's pretty, pretty
00:05:19
interesting. But she's she's awesome.
00:05:21
She's super fun. When did you get introduced to
00:05:24
her, Jenna? Well, I didn't know there was an
00:05:28
audio drama, so now I'm really excited about that.
00:05:31
But actually this this year I I started writing in the comic
00:05:37
sector in like January, so I like.
00:05:40
Really, Dove? Into like to Star Wars, cuz it's
00:05:44
my favorite, my favorite franchise.
00:05:46
And I was reading all the Darth Vader runs and I had read like
00:05:51
Charles Soule and Greg Pack. And then I got to Gillen.
00:05:56
I kind of went in like a weird reverse order cuz those are like
00:05:58
not the orders you you're supposed to go in.
00:06:01
And I came across there when I was reading the Gillen run.
00:06:03
And then I'm like, OK, hold on. I gotta, I gotta find out more
00:06:06
about her cuz she's, she's like really really chaotic and I love
00:06:11
it. Yeah, I was really like, so when
00:06:16
I first heard about her, it was just like, oh, she's the the
00:06:19
most basic introduction to like someone can talk about her is
00:06:22
probably like evil Indiana Jones, right?
00:06:24
But she's not really evil. And she's like not quite.
00:06:28
It's also weird because it's like Harrison Ford is also Han
00:06:31
Solo, but also India, just so anyway, that gets confusing
00:06:33
Anyway, So yeah, it's like evil Indiana Jones is like the first
00:06:37
I heard about her, but she's she's way more, you know, she's
00:06:41
she's a little bit more dynamic than that, I think.
00:06:43
But then I went to read all the, you know, the entire, all the
00:06:49
runs of, you know, everything she's ever been in.
00:06:51
And it's like, dude, some of the stuff she does is like, so it's
00:06:57
not evil because they they like from a character standpoint,
00:07:01
just like not justified. So I'm like, making excuses on
00:07:05
her behalf, no? I I would too.
00:07:07
I agree. I'm, I would.
00:07:09
I'm an apologist. I'm an AFRA apologist.
00:07:11
That's OK, Yeah. I was like, she, she's trying.
00:07:14
It's just like she just doing it isn't working out.
00:07:20
So yeah, she's just, I, I love writing characters like that.
00:07:23
It's just, and reading characters like that, you know,
00:07:25
it's just like, she's just so, she's so human, you know?
00:07:32
And the writing really, really reflects that, I think, which is
00:07:34
cool. And were you, like, really
00:07:39
familiar with her before you started taking on the series?
00:07:43
I read, I knew she should. I read when she showed up and
00:07:47
she debuted Invader. And then I had 'cause I kind of
00:07:53
had talked to Sarah, Sarah who did the audio drama.
00:07:57
So I saw when she was talking about working on it and she
00:08:01
posted it, I was like, oh, OK, so, you know, Sarah's working on
00:08:03
Afra. So I, I listened to that.
00:08:06
And then I read a little bit of the Gillen run and then I kind
00:08:08
of like took out like, you know, as is in comics, you kind of
00:08:11
like, there's just so much to consume.
00:08:13
Took a big break. And then when I got the job, I
00:08:17
was like, OK, let me like go back and really get into it and
00:08:21
read Alyssa's run, which is super fun and like a really cool
00:08:26
differentiation in tone right from from previously what had
00:08:30
what had come before. So yeah, they did the, the whole
00:08:34
thing is really, really, it's just crazy to see how much that
00:08:37
has been written in Afra's world, you know, like at this
00:08:40
point. So yeah, that's about how I
00:08:44
think she'll come back. I think that's, that's about,
00:08:50
that's kind of like my 2 experiences, like was similar to
00:08:54
the when she first came out and then kind of like came back to
00:08:57
her after. It's like, OK, you, you know,
00:09:01
you have the chance to, to work, to play in the sandbox.
00:09:06
Right. Well, Ray has is a big fan of
00:09:11
morally ambiguous characters. Ray.
00:09:14
Ray. I I'm more.
00:09:16
Of like about the. Books.
00:09:17
So I'm a big Thrawn fan. OK, Yeah.
00:09:23
I don't know, like morally ambiguous, Like I think he's
00:09:27
straight up knows what he's doing.
00:09:30
It it's morally ambiguous, I I will give you homework about.
00:09:37
Oh my God I love it. Star Wars homework.
00:09:40
Truly. But I know that you mentioned
00:09:43
that Star Wars wasn't like something that you were like
00:09:45
super into before Afra. Like, would you say that she was
00:09:49
kind of your gateway character into the Star Wars universe?
00:09:54
Well, so I think, you know, there's people who like really
00:09:57
grew up with Star Wars. I, I, so I'm the only child of a
00:10:01
single mom who is an immigrant. So like, it didn't have someone
00:10:06
like introducing me to Star Wars as a little kid and like, so I
00:10:10
kind of came to it a little later, I think.
00:10:12
And, you know, I watched the movies and like, the movies are
00:10:15
like archetypal, you know, like they're they're literally like
00:10:19
the foundation for like everything after.
00:10:21
So it's like you can't even to say they're like, you know,
00:10:24
important or good is like, duh. But yeah.
00:10:28
So I I kind of came to it all late and then I did.
00:10:31
I was a Star Wars fan before Afra, but not to the, I would
00:10:37
say in, in terms of my knowledge of everything, especially in the
00:10:43
like kind of, you know, in the Legends timeline now and then,
00:10:46
like in the books and stuff like that.
00:10:48
I am way more familiar with that now after having worked on Afra
00:10:51
before. It was like a little bit more of
00:10:53
the mainstream understanding. But yeah, like, I mean, Thrawn,
00:10:57
everyone look, I mean, so I was like, I've asked about like,
00:11:04
well, I'm trying to think of what I can talk about here.
00:11:07
Just like just Thrawn is very, very popular for a good reason
00:11:12
and like easily discussed. So it's like, yeah, it's
00:11:14
awesome. That's so cool that you're into
00:11:16
Thrawn. You're not.
00:11:17
I mean, you're not alone, obviously, but.
00:11:20
I I enjoy him as a good villain, but Ray is Ray Ray he is the.
00:11:24
Throne apologist among us. I'm in the trenches.
00:11:27
OK, listen, we all have our favorite war criminals.
00:11:34
Mine just happens to be blue. Hey, man, sometimes when war
00:11:38
criminals can do it kind of fabulously, it's like, well,
00:11:43
like I when I first watched Star Wars, I was obsessed with
00:11:47
Vader's, like, egg office. Do.
00:11:53
You know what I mean? I was like, I was like this.
00:11:56
Looks this is like. So stylish and so cool and so
00:12:00
you know. If Anakin is is anything, he is
00:12:06
all about the dramatics and the flair, so he would really have
00:12:09
that office. That was very chic and it's.
00:12:12
Like his pod, I'm like, what is he even doing in there?
00:12:15
I don't even. It's like so little.
00:12:16
I don't. Yeah.
00:12:19
So I'm like, who knows what's happening in there?
00:12:21
But yeah, I, you know, I get it. I, I think and villains are
00:12:25
sometimes like, you know, sometimes you just kind of, I
00:12:28
don't know. I get it.
00:12:30
You don't have to. You don't have to apologize for
00:12:32
throwing with me. Oh, I, I, he's, he's a great
00:12:36
character. It's exciting to see him now
00:12:38
being brought into the current Canon.
00:12:42
And that's kind of I'm, I'm hoping that that happens with
00:12:45
Afra. Like I I hope that she's someone
00:12:47
I think should be brought over into the live action or animated
00:12:52
genre because she's just so such a rich character that people
00:12:56
would love her. I, you know, I see that
00:13:02
conversations come up so often and who knows?
00:13:08
I don't know, you know, it's like, I think it's like if
00:13:10
you're 'cause it's like with the, the, the fans that love her
00:13:14
and know her, like there's so much expectation wrapped up in
00:13:18
that. So then you would like really
00:13:20
want to do it, right, You know what I mean?
00:13:23
But it's also like, man, they did, you know, Rosario Dawson
00:13:27
brought Ahsoka to light, you know what I mean?
00:13:28
Like this, these are all these things and you know, from
00:13:30
animated to live action and like all these other things.
00:13:33
So who knows? You know, it would be pretty, it
00:13:37
would pretty be pretty dope. I think it would be really like
00:13:41
awesome because for me personally Afra like just reads
00:13:46
as an Asian coded person, so being able to see that in Star
00:13:50
Wars more would be fantastic. Yeah, I mean, I think that's
00:13:55
definitely, that's like a big draw.
00:13:58
I think in terms of like, you know, it's, it's kind of cool
00:14:01
'cause it's like in the world of Star Wars, they don't present
00:14:07
things that, you know, like as like, like her being queer is
00:14:10
not like a, A, a thing, right? Like it is in our walls,
00:14:13
unfortunately. But in the same way like her
00:14:18
being, you know, presenting as East Asian isn't necessarily a
00:14:21
thing. But like in, in terms of the
00:14:23
reality of how we interpret things, it's like huge, you
00:14:26
know, it's like extremely cool. And to have a character that
00:14:29
isn't like for me, what's really refreshing about it is she's she
00:14:35
to me is like East Asian. And then also is not having to
00:14:38
deal with all the stuff we constantly talk about in the
00:14:41
real world, right? East Asian issues, like she's
00:14:44
not constantly dealing with honor.
00:14:49
So like it's that's great. She has no honor.
00:14:52
She has no honor. Yeah, it's more like the lack of
00:14:55
honor and like that's, that's really refreshing, you know, to
00:15:01
not have to come like be free of that stuff.
00:15:05
It's almost like kind of idealistic, you know what I
00:15:07
mean, to be able to brighten that space, right.
00:15:11
Yeah. And so totally.
00:15:12
I mean, that's a, that's a big part of it for me to be able to
00:15:16
write her, you know? And what's super cool about
00:15:19
this, this your run, this chaos agent run is that you
00:15:23
immediately like off the off the bat you're including, you have
00:15:26
Luke Skywalker. So you're like you're diving in
00:15:29
head 1st. And now Han Solo is going to be
00:15:31
in the next in the next issue, which I think is amazing because
00:15:35
like you said, she's kind of like space Indiana Jones, but
00:15:39
like without a conscience. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:15:44
So kind of like when I was brought on to do the book, the
00:15:49
this team up thing was like the team up format was really
00:15:53
presented to me as like, OK, this thing that we want to try
00:15:57
and do. And so that's kind of like the
00:16:01
recurring thing. And I, you know, there's kind of
00:16:03
like an argument against it sometimes because it's like you
00:16:06
want Afra has her own corner of the universe, the Galaxy that is
00:16:11
like so expansive already, which I really love.
00:16:14
But there's also something super fun and also like, kind of
00:16:18
beneficial in like, bringing people into Afra by having her
00:16:22
team up. So I know people loved, you
00:16:24
know, her previous adventures with Luke's, like screaming
00:16:27
Citadel and stuff like that. And in Alyssa's run, they did
00:16:32
like A2 parter with the Oh my God, the name's escaping me, but
00:16:38
it was the screaming. Just the screw is like the the
00:16:42
temple. Anyway, I'm forgetting the name,
00:16:44
but it was like, can't do the bell and stuff like that.
00:16:46
Anyway, it was a great 2:00-ish two parter.
00:16:47
But the yeah, so like having riding Luke right off the bat is
00:16:55
really wild. And their dynamic is so fun.
00:17:00
Like it's like, it's like a dog and a cat, you know what I mean?
00:17:06
And then so like that's always like really, really, it's cool.
00:17:10
And I was able and also writing in this time period, which we
00:17:12
haven't talked about as much, which is like, you know, post
00:17:16
Jakku and like we haven't really explored this time frame in the
00:17:22
Galaxy yet. And that was super fun because
00:17:26
it's like, OK, Luke is doing all that stuff.
00:17:28
Like theaters died and like Luke is coming off of that.
00:17:32
Afra is finally free of that. And there's like this big time
00:17:35
jump and like we, I really wanted to think about everything
00:17:42
that could have happened to Aphra between the end of
00:17:44
Alyssa's run and, and where we are now.
00:17:47
And, you know, given the chance, I'd love to like really get into
00:17:51
it more. So we'll see if I'm able to.
00:17:53
But yeah, the IT it writing work is super fun.
00:17:58
Riding Han was actually with Afra was surprisingly
00:18:01
challenging because that's like if Luke and Afra are cat and a
00:18:05
dog, like Han and Afra like cat and a cat, like they can't like
00:18:10
they're kind of like both kind of do you know what I mean?
00:18:12
They're both kind of like sassy, you know, bounty hunter smuggler
00:18:19
types that are like, they're just like shades.
00:18:22
Like they're both like not lawful, they're both like, you
00:18:26
know, I mean, they're most like chaotic, but they're like on
00:18:28
good and bad sides, you know. So it was like that was I was
00:18:33
like that took me a second to kind of hone in on that more.
00:18:35
But the third issue is really, really fun.
00:18:38
I think hopefully, and the villain in that is a new
00:18:41
character, which I had a lot of fun kind of spinning up with the
00:18:49
with the artist with Gabriel. So that that that is super cool.
00:18:55
So. So it's not Thrawn?
00:18:57
It is. It is not.
00:18:58
I'm so sorry, Ray. It is unfortunately not Thrawn.
00:19:03
OK, next time. Next time.
00:19:05
Dude, if I ever if if if Thrawn shows up in AFRA, this podcast
00:19:11
will be the first thing I do talk about.
00:19:14
Please, please. I think it could work.
00:19:17
I think it could work, yeah. Because it's it's the.
00:19:22
It's the New Republic and he's still, I mean, he well, timeline
00:19:28
wise, he is back during the New Republic timeline.
00:19:30
It could work. We could make it work.
00:19:33
I'm sure there's some Lucas saw magic we could all weave to.
00:19:39
I see the gear is in in rays, in rays of brains turning.
00:19:42
I see it. They see it.
00:19:44
Reference the books. It's yeah, Dave Filoni kind of
00:19:48
messed up the timeline. It's fine.
00:19:53
There's nothing that has been done that can't be reworked or
00:19:56
figured out. Right Con, it's fine.
00:20:01
It'll, it'll be fine. Are there other villains that
00:20:06
you particularly love? Right.
00:20:08
Or either of you. I I I love Thron and I love
00:20:15
Tarkin. I'm an imperial girl, so.
00:20:19
Clearly. Hey man, I think we have better
00:20:22
outfits. Facts.
00:20:25
Facts. I, I mean, I, I love Thrawn as a
00:20:30
character like I'm, I don't know his story like from legends and
00:20:34
stuff like Ray does. I, I'm a big fan of Star Wars
00:20:38
Rebels, so that's where I get my Thrawn from and he's just such a
00:20:42
good antagonist for them. But I'm, I'm definitely more of
00:20:46
a, the, the hero girl. I love my, I love Ahsoka, I love
00:20:50
the rebels. You know, that's I love, of
00:20:52
course, I think one of the best things that Star Wars has done,
00:20:58
I think one of the best things Star Wars has done recently has
00:21:01
been and or I don't know if you if you've watched it, but hands
00:21:08
down I think it was. It's like the best thing this
00:21:10
year. It's like the best thing about
00:21:12
this year. It I was sitting watching like
00:21:17
especially the the three episodes where it's the Gorman
00:21:21
massacre and it's like that happens.
00:21:23
And I, I don't know, there was those 3 episodes in Monmouth of
00:21:27
the speech. It was like I was like an in
00:21:31
heaven like this. Is all good.
00:21:34
Yeah, I, I think indoor is, yeah.
00:21:41
I think, I mean, you know, the shows, I think, you know,
00:21:45
everyone's a tunnel to the I I think the shows have been really
00:21:48
hit or miss, right, in terms of the like the larger scope of
00:21:50
everything that's come out. I think the first season and a
00:21:54
half of Mandalorian incredible, like just like their their
00:21:59
originality of it was really, really cool and seeing like
00:22:02
pieces of things from other threads coming in was really,
00:22:05
really great. And or though, Oh my God,
00:22:09
freaking I was, I was obsessed and I'm like two seasons is all
00:22:14
we're getting. But I'm like, and on a high
00:22:17
note, all the BTS has been incredible.
00:22:19
Like I follow Michael Wilkinson, I think is his name.
00:22:22
He's the costume designer. I mean, it's just like it's just
00:22:28
like sumptuous, you know, It's just like the storytelling is
00:22:31
incredible and everything, all the design of it is incredible.
00:22:34
It's just man, it's is I honestly one of my favorite
00:22:37
shows like in recent memory. It's I definitely agree, yeah.
00:22:44
I think like my thing with Star Wars in the most recent
00:22:47
properties that come out for TV is that we're not focused on the
00:22:52
Jedi. And that's what makes it so much
00:22:54
more interesting is that we're leaning into that world
00:22:57
building. And I think like that's what I
00:22:59
love to hear about your Afra run, is that we're delving into
00:23:03
what the Galaxy looks like after the fall of the Empire.
00:23:08
And that's why I loved the early season of Mandarin, because we
00:23:14
were going into that concept. Totally.
00:23:18
And like, I kind of I think what's cool about the the the
00:23:23
series I'm able to write is that like I even though we're having
00:23:30
her paired up with like kind of these legacy characters that are
00:23:33
super familiar at this point, I was like, well, one, I really
00:23:38
kind of want to make this new time period a big factor, right?
00:23:42
Then there's like a lot of things that haven't happened and
00:23:44
new things are our characters are in new places.
00:23:47
And then I also wanted to introduce plate like locations
00:23:50
we hadn't seen in a long time in like ever, either new locations
00:23:54
or locations we hadn't seen before.
00:23:55
So the city in the second second issue, Oh my God, the name's
00:24:01
escaping me right now. So the financial city, I was
00:24:03
like, my brain is a little fried, but that's a location
00:24:07
from the Marvel Comics in the 70s.
00:24:11
And so, you know, like being able to do stuff like that is
00:24:15
really, really cool. And then also I wanted to
00:24:17
introduce new characters as much as possible as well to to kind
00:24:20
of like make get the Galaxy still seem expansive, right.
00:24:26
And I think, yeah. And or does that in incredibly
00:24:29
in also this like tiny window, right?
00:24:32
Like literally we're in the Super, super specific time frame
00:24:35
of the the timeline. But yeah, I thought it was, it
00:24:39
was such a such a cool show and so much, I mean, so relevant to
00:24:46
so much of what feels like we're dealing with today, you know, in
00:24:49
the real world. But also, yeah, it's just just
00:24:53
like a really, really lovely show.
00:24:54
And I think it's so cool that they gave Tony Gilroy so much
00:25:02
freedom. You know, just like in all the
00:25:04
interviews, he's talking about how much leeway he got.
00:25:07
I think he was told not to use F bombs so much.
00:25:12
But beyond that, they're like, yeah, you know, so that's that's
00:25:16
so cool. I mean, like anytime anyone gets
00:25:18
to do that with something as huge as Star Wars and then for
00:25:22
to the show to be actually so freaking good is like incredibly
00:25:27
exciting. My, my editors at comic book,
00:25:32
they had or one of them, he had watched the whole season already
00:25:35
before it aired. And I was so mad.
00:25:38
Like I was not mad. I was jealous.
00:25:39
And then when the, the three, those three big ones towards the
00:25:44
end with the, you know, the Gorman massacre and Monmouth,
00:25:45
the speech when those came out, I messaged him and I was like,
00:25:48
how did you keep this quiet? Oh my God these were the best
00:25:50
episodes I've ever seen in Star Wars.
00:25:53
Like. Yeah.
00:25:56
It was, yeah, crazy. It was especially taking a
00:26:02
character like Mon Mothma, who you know is ultimately going to
00:26:05
be fine, you know, where she turns out, like what happens to
00:26:09
her and still being scared watching it.
00:26:11
Like, Oh my God, like, is she gonna be able to get off of of
00:26:15
Khorasan? Like, that's some incredible
00:26:18
storytelling. Well, even and or himself too.
00:26:21
Like you literally Yep. Like you literally know what
00:26:24
happens. And it's like, it's it's really,
00:26:28
I actually think again, the I think he's talked, Tony Gilroy
00:26:30
talked about it being really helpful that you actually know
00:26:34
what happens to this character being a framework for how to
00:26:37
write how he wrote the show or how he put the show together.
00:26:42
But it is like in the scene when he's like escorting Mon Mothma
00:26:46
out, it's like, it's super tense, you know, and you're just
00:26:51
like, Oh my God, you know, it's just and, and, and again, I
00:26:55
think there's a it's a testament to how all the new characters
00:26:58
they also created where you're constantly worried about.
00:27:03
I mean, you, you must know most of them are not going to make it
00:27:06
right, like freaking Stalin Skarsgard, right?
00:27:08
Like you just, you just kind of like get the sense.
00:27:10
And then it's but then yeah, you're just devastated when you
00:27:15
know, he he's he goes and it's just pretty brutal show.
00:27:22
Very much. Are you with AFRA?
00:27:27
I mean, I don't know how much you can tell us since obviously
00:27:30
like it's not all out yet, but are there other team UPS we can
00:27:34
expect down the road? So yeah, the issue 4 is I can
00:27:40
say, because I think the the covers out everything like that,
00:27:43
but the four is Chewbacca, which was I actually think issue 4 was
00:27:50
the most fun to write Chewbacca. And then because he's also on
00:27:54
the cover, I can say Chris Anton shows up.
00:27:57
So it's just like Wookie Palooza an issue for that's like in a
00:28:03
new location with new, new, new things going on.
00:28:07
And that that was so fun. The art and it was just done by
00:28:12
Karen Mccone. I hope I'm saying his name,
00:28:14
right. The art is incredible in that
00:28:17
one. I just like Karen knocked it out
00:28:19
of the park. It's so fantastic.
00:28:22
And the last issue, not last issue I'm talking about Issue 5.
00:28:28
I can't really say right now. I don't think we'll wait until
00:28:34
it comes out, but that actually I'll say issue 5 features a new
00:28:37
character very prominently. That's.
00:28:42
Exciting. I always love to see the Star
00:28:45
Wars Galaxy growing with these new characters that who knows
00:28:48
where what's going to happen. They could turn off that this is
00:28:51
a new, you know, Afra like character that spins off into
00:28:54
its own, takes on its life of its own.
00:28:56
Yeah, and that's happened quite a bit with Afra too, I think,
00:28:58
which is cool. Yeah, it's a the character is
00:29:03
on, the cover's been released, I think.
00:29:05
So you can see the cover, but you won't know who she is until
00:29:11
the end of issue 4. So we'll say that.
00:29:17
Super exciting just to leave it on a little, a little bit of a
00:29:21
hook. But yeah, that's, that's, that's
00:29:25
kind of that's where we are at that I can say now.
00:29:31
OK, right. Have we?
00:29:33
Have we convinced you now? Have we sold you?
00:29:35
On I mean, I was already convinced there's just so much
00:29:40
to consume with Star Wars where it's just like, where do I
00:29:44
start? So what I'm hearing is I just
00:29:47
need to start from the beginning binge so I can catch up.
00:29:52
Do you do you read the comics right mostly or is it mostly
00:29:55
like the the like long form novels and stuff?
00:29:59
So I usually try to stick with the long form novels just
00:30:03
because I like the world building and being able to like
00:30:06
collect all the information in little Lord tidbits, again like
00:30:11
comics have always been very daunting to me.
00:30:14
I. Know, I, I think that's really
00:30:16
tough about like how Western comics are formatted because
00:30:19
it's always like, OK, when should I start?
00:30:22
It's like in the middle of like Vader #16 or something.
00:30:26
I think it's like whenever it shows up.
00:30:28
So it's like, yeah, it can be. I totally get that.
00:30:31
That's like the appeal of manga, right?
00:30:32
Because it's like, oh, you want to read the series?
00:30:34
Just pick up #1 And then yeah. And.
00:30:37
I think like that's kind of like my thought process with Star
00:30:43
Wars where it's like I have to pick a character to focus on so
00:30:46
I can just consume all of their like stuff.
00:30:50
So it's like I consumed all of Thrawn and then I moved over to
00:30:54
Target and now I'm like moving on to Padme.
00:30:58
And now I guess I'll have to get into Afra while I'm going
00:31:02
through Vader. Yeah, yes, this is what Jenna
00:31:08
saying, yes. Just yes, 20, 2015, 2015 Gillen,
00:31:12
that's when she's introduced, like you said, and then like
00:31:14
somewhere in the middle of the run too.
00:31:18
I know that's why I'm always like, it's hard to like, you
00:31:22
know, like I have friends who want to, who aren't as like avid
00:31:25
comic readers as I am and then want to support, you know, and
00:31:28
like you have to explain to them.
00:31:30
And it's like, so I totally get it.
00:31:32
But she is so readable and so fun.
00:31:37
And again, like some of the stuff there's like a prison
00:31:41
break in the Gillen run that like in the 2016 run that is
00:31:44
like so twisty and turny, but like, so readable and like,
00:31:51
yeah, I think if you like, vaguely amoral or in your mind
00:31:57
vaguely immoral, but maybe immoral characters, she's just
00:32:03
so up up your alley, I think. So she's she's like, she's just
00:32:08
like a real. I love a character that keeps
00:32:11
messing up. But like, you still love her.
00:32:12
You know, It's weird. It's weird that she works.
00:32:14
So would you say that, Jenna? I I completely agree.
00:32:18
And especially because she doesn't really have a side.
00:32:22
She like helps out Vader and then she winds up accidentally
00:32:25
with the rebellion and she's like, well, I guess I'll help
00:32:27
you guys out. Like it's all it's like she
00:32:30
accidentally falls into these situations and it just totally
00:32:35
works. Yeah, she's just like highly
00:32:38
individualistic, almost like she's like she reacts to the,
00:32:42
the, the person in front of her, you know, and it's like their
00:32:47
ideology isn't as like, which is kind of, again, refreshing in
00:32:51
today's day and age. Like they're someone's ideology
00:32:53
isn't like the most defining thing about them.
00:32:55
Like she likes Magna because Magna is like hot, you know, you
00:32:59
know, and like, or you know, like that's how she responds to
00:33:02
her in the beginning. Like she's like, I'm attracted
00:33:04
to you. And then like they get into this
00:33:06
whole by play right, that it keeps the it's like one of the
00:33:09
coolest romances. So also she does some really
00:33:13
messed up stuff to Magna as well, which is crazy.
00:33:18
So yeah, it's just like it's, it's very, very.
00:33:21
She's a really interesting character.
00:33:24
Really, she never goes far too far.
00:33:27
It's never, she never does something that it makes her
00:33:31
irredeemable, even though, like, maybe she might accidentally
00:33:36
ruin someone's life. You're still like, OK, well, I,
00:33:38
I kind of get how this happened, you know?
00:33:41
Yeah, it's like it. She's like, she's just like,
00:33:46
first of all, like impossible to kill.
00:33:47
She's like this incredible survivalist.
00:33:51
It's weird. She's like, so good at like,
00:33:53
living and taking like coming up with these, like, just like Plan
00:33:58
Z, you know, that enables her to get away.
00:34:01
But that what she has to do, which is like, yeah, she's
00:34:04
trying to survive in this really, really dangerous world.
00:34:07
What she does to do that sometimes is like what makes it
00:34:10
really, really complicated. And it's very Gray and immoral,
00:34:14
amoral. I think Jenna and I might be
00:34:17
talking about the same thing, but maybe not.
00:34:19
I don't know base anyway. But yeah, like, I'm I'm thinking
00:34:25
about one particular thing. And she does in the prison
00:34:27
breaks, in the prison break kind of chunk.
00:34:34
So there's a lot of a lot of questionable things.
00:34:38
Yeah, but if you ever get into her more, we'll be here to talk
00:34:42
to you about it. I I'm sure like I'll probably
00:34:45
like be in like both of y'alls like DM and just like hey yo,
00:34:49
why didn't you warn me about this?
00:34:54
You know, one of my one of my favorite things, I don't know if
00:34:57
this is something you know that you include, but I love her two
00:35:01
droids that just are like murderous versions of R2 and
00:35:04
C3PO like those are. Some.
00:35:07
Of my favorite side characters. Yeah, 000 and BT are like, like
00:35:17
they're almost especially 000000 is like her murder C3PO.
00:35:23
He's like, he's like Hannibal. He's like Hannibal Lecter in
00:35:27
like, you know, and like a yeah, he's like Hannibal Lecter
00:35:31
because he's like kind of weirdly polite about like how he
00:35:33
wants to just like, you know, set people on fire.
00:35:37
It's it's it's really weird. But he's so much fun.
00:35:42
I love, I love, love, love 000, which is like probably I guess
00:35:46
is how you feel about throng. There's nothing redeemable about
00:35:49
000 and if you ever get the chance, actually one of my
00:35:54
favorite AFRA things is this little like event.
00:35:59
It's it's when she actually runs into Han.
00:36:02
And I don't know, it's definitely the first time I
00:36:04
think she runs into Han, but maybe not like maybe she'd run
00:36:07
into Leia before. But it's called Vader down.
00:36:09
Jenna, did you read Vader down? Yeah, it's really good.
00:36:14
It's it's like kind of the culmination of a few like
00:36:17
storylines into this one big event.
00:36:19
But it's it's so good. Like she has this interaction.
00:36:23
It's my favorite interaction between her and Han.
00:36:27
Maybe I'll say before I got the chance to write them, but yeah,
00:36:32
it's just it's it's it's really, really fun.
00:36:35
And basically I'll spoil one thing, which is like 000
00:36:40
masquerades as C3PO. And it's like literally I, I
00:36:46
mean, you can imagine how chaotic that would because it's
00:36:48
like literally like C, you know, C3PO incredibly charming, just a
00:36:53
real everyone, everyone loves to beat up on C3PO.
00:36:57
And then it's like, OK, but now imagine everyone like ragging on
00:37:00
C3PO but he's like literally, you know, a serial killer.
00:37:07
He's like, can we kill them now, Mistress?
00:37:09
And she's like, no. Yeah, she's like, can I please,
00:37:12
like, you know, cut his limbs off and you're like, Oh my God.
00:37:15
And you're like, dude, you're scary.
00:37:22
Yeah. I love I I that was one of the
00:37:24
big draws for me. I'm so glad you brought them up,
00:37:26
Jenna, because, like, that's a huge part of the cell is her two
00:37:30
droids. Yeah.
00:37:33
She comes up with all kinds of stuff like that.
00:37:34
She does this whole thing with a Tuka cat at one point anyway.
00:37:39
She's something she really, there's so many elements that
00:37:44
can work with her. It's so fun.
00:37:47
Yeah, yeah, she's she's, she's a real, she's a real hoot.
00:37:51
And and going back and reading the whole range of misadventures
00:37:57
she got it, she gets into has been like, it's it's really
00:38:00
cool. And it makes sense to me why she
00:38:02
got why she's so popular and why people love her so much.
00:38:08
All that. I'm hearing is like, I love that
00:38:11
she's bringing like this different energy to the Star
00:38:14
Wars universe because we're so used to seeing this black and
00:38:17
white energy throughout where it's like either you're bad or
00:38:22
you're good. And like you said, it's like you
00:38:24
get to see her mess up and be a bad person, but also a good
00:38:28
person, which makes it very compelling because it's like you
00:38:32
don't get to see real people in Star Wars, really.
00:38:37
Totally in it, yeah. I mean, I think for for, I mean,
00:38:43
like Star Wars is almost like the archetypal good versus bad
00:38:46
in our minds at this point, right?
00:38:48
And it's like, like, I think like everybody who watches Star
00:38:52
Wars now, like the original trilogy is like, oh, I, I you
00:38:55
know, whatever side you're on, they probably identify with the
00:38:57
rebels and like the the other side is the Empire, right?
00:39:01
No matter what. But it's like the truth of it
00:39:05
all is like, and I think Andorra is does the same thing, right?
00:39:09
It's like what we're talking about where it's like the rebels
00:39:12
end up having to do like in in spycraft, you have to do some
00:39:15
awful shit, right? So like, it's really, I think
00:39:20
that when you know, makes sense, Star Wars has gotten to this
00:39:24
point where it's like when we let people explore, that almost
00:39:27
makes it feel a little bit more relatable, weirdly, which is
00:39:31
really cool. So, yeah, I think I think, you
00:39:36
know, and and I also think when we when we go back, we like to
00:39:39
think that like, oh, you know, you know, Luke is so just
00:39:43
plainly good and stuff. But I think, you know, the more
00:39:46
people have written him and and people have written him a lot at
00:39:49
this point, he's given the room to have shades of that too, you
00:39:53
know, and Vader, of course, like the all time great, you know,
00:39:56
all time greatest villain has is like so indicative that that
00:40:00
whole turn is from Anakin and everything so.
00:40:05
Yeah, that's why I really like how you present Luke even in the
00:40:09
first, the first issue of your series, because he comes in and
00:40:12
he's Luke Skywalker. I mean, he's like the only Jedi.
00:40:16
Everyone loves him. He's he's respected and
00:40:18
everything. And he has faith in, in Afra.
00:40:20
He's like, I've worked with her before and yeah, you know,
00:40:23
she's, she's definitely a little unorthodox, but he has hit
00:40:30
someone so pure, if you will, has faith in what she can do and
00:40:34
her skills. And I think that's pretty cool
00:40:35
to see. Yeah, and that's sometimes
00:40:41
that's bit him in the bud before, which is also kind of
00:40:45
fun. But in the first issues, like
00:40:49
one thing, I really, you know, it's a real brief moment, but
00:40:53
it's like kind of them them when they're flying to the before
00:40:58
they arrive at the destination for their mission, it's like
00:41:00
they have this moment where they recap like everything they went
00:41:04
through with the end of the war, if you will.
00:41:08
And like, you know, it cost them both something.
00:41:12
And it's also like Vader's death is very complicated for both of
00:41:16
them. You know what I mean?
00:41:18
And I there's like a moment I wanted to write for future issue
00:41:25
that I just don't know if I'll be able to get it in.
00:41:28
But like, I think Afra would have a very, very complex
00:41:35
reaction to Vader's death that, you know, hopefully at one point
00:41:39
we were able to, to get into a little bit more.
00:41:42
But yeah, that stuff is like, all that stuff is like super.
00:41:47
I don't know. It's like not good or bad, but
00:41:48
it's like the meat of it, right? These aren't like good or bad
00:41:51
flat characters. And that's what's so fun about
00:41:55
it. Yeah, I think that I love that
00:42:01
you're wanting to explore like this more emotional depth
00:42:04
because I think like with a character like Afra, like with
00:42:07
the chaotic nature, it's very easy to kind of fall into like
00:42:11
the like comedic way of presenting things or the chaos
00:42:16
and just kind of like having everything be like really like
00:42:19
spur of the moment and all of that.
00:42:22
So like hearing that like you want to explore this like more
00:42:24
human element to her where she like actually has like an
00:42:28
emotional reaction to Vader and what that would mean to her is
00:42:32
really interesting. I honestly would really love to
00:42:34
like see you be able to explore that.
00:42:37
Yeah, I hope so too. Like I again, I think the the
00:42:42
stories I really respond to trying do both, right.
00:42:46
Like Afra is so accessible because she's so funny and fun
00:42:51
to read, right. But but I think what establishes
00:42:55
the connection to her and to the other characters in her books,
00:43:00
it's like when you have that kind of core character moment,
00:43:06
right? Like this is like something that
00:43:07
you want to know how they feel about these other these other
00:43:10
aspects of the Galaxy at large. So, yeah, I mean, there's
00:43:15
there's, there's I, you know, there's so much of Aphra's past
00:43:21
that I would love to get into and want to get into.
00:43:24
And I know it's like, I know a lot of people want to know what
00:43:28
happened to to her girlfriends. And I have a thought on that.
00:43:31
But there is an answer to that. But we'll see if we can, you
00:43:37
know, what we're going to, we'll see what we can do.
00:43:41
And so, yeah, it's just, it's, these are all the things that
00:43:46
like make them more alive, you know what I mean?
00:43:51
So yeah, that that, that it's always trying to do both.
00:43:54
And like with every issue, I want to try and give like the
00:44:00
like, I wanted to feel like a really substantial story with
00:44:02
each issue, you know what I mean?
00:44:03
I don't want to just give you like, oh, this feels like almost
00:44:06
like a prologue to what eventually will be a bigger
00:44:09
story. It's like, no, every issue
00:44:11
should feel like a lot, you know?
00:44:12
I want to try and give everyone a lot with everything and the
00:44:16
pages that I do have so. Yeah, they're very, it's very
00:44:20
meaty. It's yeah.
00:44:22
Every issue so far has been very, you know, even if it's a
00:44:25
self-contained story, it's it's going to something bigger.
00:44:28
And they're each very, I think important to the overall story
00:44:32
you're eventually weaving, which I, I'm excited to see where it
00:44:36
goes. Oh, thanks.
00:44:38
That's that's the goal. You know, that's like the I, I,
00:44:42
you know, I think and you can't take for granted, especially,
00:44:46
you know, like with, you know, I think every creative industry is
00:44:49
taking a is, is is, is all is hard right now, right?
00:44:53
Like comics, movies, TV, everything's kind of like taking
00:44:56
a hit right now. So like when you do get the
00:44:58
chance to create something, it's like, I want to really give it.
00:45:04
Nothing is promised, you know, so you want to give it as much
00:45:06
as you got when you, when you, when you have the, the pages,
00:45:09
you do. So yeah, that's that's, I'm glad
00:45:12
that it reads that way, Jenna. So yeah, that's the goal with
00:45:16
every issue We're hopefully going to do, you know, they're
00:45:18
self-contained, but they're leading somewhere and hopefully
00:45:21
get to tell as much of it as we can.
00:45:24
Right. I mean, I've been told, I don't
00:45:26
know if this is like true in your case, but like Marvel
00:45:30
Comics, they tend to only green light like 10 issues.
00:45:34
They'll say, yes, you can write this story, but it's like a 10
00:45:37
issue story. So that's a lot to kind of cram
00:45:40
into. A full arc.
00:45:45
I think that's been the so that's kind of like almost from
00:45:51
what I've seen, kind of like the, the, the, the standing or
00:45:56
for a lot of things right now, just like, OK, we'll see how it
00:45:59
does with sales. Like whenever in other
00:46:02
interviews people ask me like, oh, is this a mini series?
00:46:04
Is this, you know, what is what is it an ongoing?
00:46:06
Like all I can really see right now is like, it's so dependent
00:46:09
on sales, which is like it's, it's just a, it's just a tough
00:46:13
world out there right now. But you know, when you are given
00:46:17
a number for how many you can do, then it's like, OK, how do
00:46:20
we structure this to like make the most of what we have, you
00:46:23
know what I mean? And to like try and have it be
00:46:25
impact no matter if like if we get to keep it going, if it, if
00:46:28
it gets, if it gets cut or, you know, over it just stands at the
00:46:33
number they originally gave you. So we're going to, you know,
00:46:36
we're just like this is it's Canon Afra it it it is
00:46:41
happening. And so like you want to make
00:46:43
sure it it has an impact in terms of the largest story in
00:46:47
her in her like overall, I don't know, overall impact, you know,
00:46:54
I don't know if that makes sense.
00:46:58
Yeah. Absolutely.
00:47:02
Is it? Oh, go ahead.
00:47:04
No, no, no, I will. Say she's on the psych head.
00:47:10
No, no, I was just gonna ask if you were gonna cuz you had a
00:47:12
question earlier. So I was like oh, what was the
00:47:15
question? But go ahead.
00:47:18
No, I was just gonna gonna ask if your AFRA is at all running
00:47:24
parallel to the current Star Wars flagship comic that is out
00:47:29
now with Alex Segura because it feels like it's taking place at
00:47:32
the same time and there's similar themes with like the
00:47:36
artifacts, the Force artifacts. So, you know, I, I was kind of
00:47:43
given the broad strokes of what Alex was doing before I started
00:47:47
writing where we are with Chaos Agent.
00:47:51
But beyond that, we aren't doing too much like specific, like
00:47:56
interweaving between the two. Like in terms of like, oh, they
00:47:59
don't have to, they don't have to tie into each other.
00:48:02
So I think a lot of like kind of what's happening is like, OK,
00:48:05
we're we're making sure we're cohesive with the character and
00:48:08
with like the larger things that are happening in the world, but
00:48:11
so that they're not at conflict with each other.
00:48:14
But a lot of other kind of similarities I think are like
00:48:18
kind of happy accidents at this point, which is really cool.
00:48:23
Yeah. And it's like cool that, you
00:48:24
know, like it's, it's a maxi series.
00:48:27
It's like, it's been pretty cool to see that develop.
00:48:30
And yeah, I read when Afra shows up in, in, in that, in that
00:48:34
storyline and stuff like that. So yeah, we're like kind of like
00:48:37
loosely, very loosely connected. But like a lot of the overlaps I
00:48:42
think are not quite intentional, but like welcome if that makes
00:48:45
sense. Right.
00:48:49
I know Segura is like bringing in some races that are legends
00:48:54
and I'm going to have to go to Ray for that because I was like,
00:48:57
I just, I've never seen this race before.
00:48:59
I'm going to Google it. And then it's like, Oh yeah, in
00:49:01
like 1983, sorry, I'm back. It's like, Oh yeah, like in
00:49:07
1983, these were like a really big part of the Canon.
00:49:10
And I'm like, Ray is my legends, is my is my is my Legends
00:49:15
encyclopedia. Yeah, honestly, I found, you
00:49:22
know, what I will say is like I found my editors at Marvel and
00:49:25
Lucasfilm to like be pretty down for that kind of stuff.
00:49:29
So it's like, you know, there's certain, certain things that,
00:49:32
you know, are, are have to be adjusted or have to be make sure
00:49:37
they work in line with everything else.
00:49:39
But a lot of stuff has been like, yeah, let's try it.
00:49:43
Well, yeah, let's go. You know, like it's been very,
00:49:46
it's been way more open than I necessarily was expecting.
00:49:49
And like, not as restrictive as like, what I think a lot of
00:49:52
people would think when they're like, oh, you're going to get to
00:49:55
write in a Star Wars property, you know?
00:49:59
Right now I want to. I want to sorry, I'm I'm I've
00:50:04
been doing it and you're I've been an interviewer for like 4
00:50:06
years. So I'm so I'm so not used to
00:50:08
just like regular conversation, but throwing this around the
00:50:14
room for you cherish and even Ray, like if you guys could
00:50:18
write any Star Wars character, like your favorite, any Star
00:50:22
Wars character, who would you choose?
00:50:26
Well, then you can't say Thrawn, Ray.
00:50:27
You gotta pick someone different.
00:50:29
It's not Thrawn. Okay, okay, take.
00:50:31
These on art he does a good job, I don't need to do his work for
00:50:34
him and. He doesn't really have I.
00:50:39
Mean this is like, well, OK Ray, you go first.
00:50:44
If I got to write a Star Wars character, I think I would pick
00:50:48
Karen Farrow, which is actually a member of Throne's crew.
00:50:55
She's showcased in his comics. She is a Imperial Navy like
00:51:06
member and he helps her like get promoted within the Navy.
00:51:10
So I think like it would be really interesting to like
00:51:12
explore like her time within the Empire and like being a woman in
00:51:18
the Empire. So that's that's what I'd like
00:51:21
to write. I actually have a really similar
00:51:24
response. That's so interesting that you
00:51:29
said that. So I so I'm a little conflicted
00:51:33
maybe with my answer, but I because so I would say I would
00:51:37
love to write Deirdre from Andor.
00:51:42
I thought I was going to say so good.
00:51:44
How would you said being a woman in the in the Empire?
00:51:47
I was like, oh, it didn't work out real well for her.
00:51:50
Or like I thought right away. Yeah, but I'm like, I like she's
00:51:56
so I mean like the kind of like weird mental like audience jiu
00:52:02
jitsu that that show did where you're like like my husband was
00:52:05
like rooting for her, you know, like he was like, dude, girl, go
00:52:10
get him, you know, like it's like hard in the empire for a
00:52:13
woman. So he's like girl boss, you
00:52:15
know, like, but then it's like, no, this is this is like awful,
00:52:19
right? Like she's just like basically
00:52:21
manufacturing a genocide. And but that's what's so crazy
00:52:28
and interesting about it. And like, so I feel conflicted
00:52:30
because I'm like, what would I ever write that?
00:52:32
Like didn't already like perfectly put a bow on that on
00:52:37
Deirdre story already. But like, I don't know, just
00:52:39
some of the stuff that you want. Like maybe you could do more
00:52:41
stuff with her at the Empire, like different cases and stuff,
00:52:44
but she's just so interesting. Like, and I think the show did
00:52:47
such a such a cool job with like that specific experience.
00:52:53
So that like you get why she's like trying so hard and like
00:52:58
getting after it. Then you see or succeed and
00:53:00
you're like, yeah, girl, get him.
00:53:02
You were right this whole time. And then it's also like, but no,
00:53:05
like you're trying to get the good guy.
00:53:07
And also like you're you're what you're doing is terrible.
00:53:11
And also like, yeah, now you're in prison.
00:53:14
It's like, it's so yeah. Anyway, so that's why I feel
00:53:17
like maybe we had similar responses, but I also feel a
00:53:21
little conflicted because it's like, this would be so cool, but
00:53:23
also like what would I even add to it, you know?
00:53:26
I don't know. Sometimes you just want to be a
00:53:28
space fascist. I don't.
00:53:30
Know maybe that that's that's that's the that's the fantasy.
00:53:36
Not really. It was like no unreal life.
00:53:38
Obviously not. But you know, that's what,
00:53:41
that's what, that's what art lets us do, you know?
00:53:48
I don't know, it would be interesting to see how she got
00:53:51
to where she was because she does have like those moments
00:53:53
where she says, oh, you know, I was raised in the Imperial
00:53:56
kinder block or whatever. So it's, it's interesting.
00:53:58
It would be interesting to see like how she became so
00:54:00
indoctrinated. So I that would be cool.
00:54:02
That would be a cool story to tell.
00:54:04
Right. That's what I'm like.
00:54:05
I think she's just, I think she's super interesting and just
00:54:08
like incredibly acted like just like an like iconic performance.
00:54:14
Oh, phenomenal. What are you doing I?
00:54:20
OK, so my my dream is actually too right for Marvel.
00:54:25
I've been trying to Hi Marvel. I've been trying to weasel my
00:54:28
way in there for a few while. I, I have like a very specific
00:54:35
idea. I'm I'm a big fan of rebels and
00:54:37
I think that a story about Hera and Kanan after they first meet
00:54:43
and when they're first on like their, their adventures together
00:54:46
before the team comes together would be such a great story.
00:54:50
And that's pretty fun. I also that's pretty fun.
00:54:52
That'll be fun. And Hera, like Hera has so many
00:54:55
adventures that you don't get to see.
00:54:57
And she's she's she's awesome. And another thing that like we
00:55:01
haven't seen, but it's been mentioned that I think would be
00:55:03
an awesome story or comic would be the the mission, the year
00:55:09
long mission on Mandalore where Obi Wan and Qui Gon were
00:55:12
protecting Satine, a young Satine, because you just kind of
00:55:16
hear about it in passing and you know, it was like so important.
00:55:18
But I would love to see like Qui Gon being such a like he's such
00:55:24
a distinct Jedi that he promotes the attachments and everything
00:55:28
and how that that all how Obi Wan and Satine kind of really
00:55:32
fell in love at that time. Like, I think that would be a
00:55:34
really fun story to tell too. Like these little things in
00:55:37
between. Totally, totally.
00:55:39
And that's like what like it's so cool about Star Wars is like
00:55:42
the afford these gaps where like you totally could at some point,
00:55:46
you know, go in and explore that, you know?
00:55:48
I think that they actually explored that in the Padawan
00:55:52
book. We haven't finished it yet, but
00:55:55
I'm pretty sure they like explored that.
00:55:58
Also, what you're talking is reminding you.
00:56:00
Look at a different story now. No, no, what you're saying also
00:56:03
reminds me of like, I mean, it's a little bit of the Obi Wan
00:56:07
show, right? But obviously that's with Obi
00:56:10
Wan and young Padme, right? Did.
00:56:15
I get that right, yeah. Young Leia, thank you.
00:56:17
Sorry, that's what I meant. Yes, thank you, Padme would not
00:56:21
make sense. I was like, hello timeline, but
00:56:26
yes, young Leia. And then it does remind me of
00:56:29
something I looked into. So maybe yeah, what what Ray is
00:56:32
saying makes sense. But yeah, that sounds, I mean,
00:56:36
the I was like, are you excited for Starfighter?
00:56:39
Yes, so excited. And so excited.
00:56:44
And then they then they went and they and they said Matt Smith is
00:56:47
going to be in it. And I was like, come on, like,
00:56:48
can you do any better? This is awesome.
00:56:52
Batman is like in every single freaking franchise at this
00:56:55
point. I mean, it's like we're running,
00:56:57
we're getting, we have a lot of actors who are in like every
00:56:59
single franchise already. But like dude.
00:57:01
Like Pedro Pascal, it's not like Pedro's and everything.
00:57:05
I feel like they're going to accidentally cast Pedro Pascal's
00:57:07
like two different characters in Star Wars.
00:57:09
You know, like at some point, who knows?
00:57:11
Like no, it's already. Like the director, Ask Natalie
00:57:15
Portman if she'd ever want to be in Star Wars.
00:57:20
Like, okay. I'm convinced.
00:57:22
I'm convinced she's gonna come back in season 2 of Asoka.
00:57:25
I know the rumors are flying. But then that she would she
00:57:29
would be either like it would either be flashbacks or she
00:57:32
would be tied to like the mortise gods.
00:57:34
But then I saw something recently that said the rumor is
00:57:38
Cate Blanchett is in talks to kind of have that character of,
00:57:42
of the mother, 'cause, you know, you have the father and the son
00:57:43
and the daughter, but she's supposed to be Satine.
00:57:47
She's she's like my Satine. In my head, she's Cate
00:57:50
Blanchett. That's your fan cast.
00:57:52
That's. My fan cast, she'd be so
00:57:55
perfect. Yeah, that's tough.
00:57:58
That's tough. That's crazy.
00:58:01
That would be pretty crazy if that was if Kate Blanchett came
00:58:04
in and like Season 2 of that, they'd have to make a big splash
00:58:07
with it. And she, she, if anyone is going
00:58:11
to be able to carry like being a God of untold powers, she's done
00:58:15
it once before with with Thor, she's going to do it again.
00:58:19
Yeah, no, totally. I was just like, yeah, convinced
00:58:22
me. Well, I but these are just like,
00:58:27
you know, rumors. I hope they're true.
00:58:30
Man, so crazy. Sorry.
00:58:32
I'm like, literally, I'm like, I'm like thinking of, well, I'm
00:58:36
trying to think of other Starfighter news.
00:58:38
Is Matt Smith the most recent thing?
00:58:42
I think so, yeah. OK, that's the last thing I've
00:58:46
heard. I think I think it would be
00:58:48
pretty cool personally, because it's, you know, Ryan Gosling is
00:58:52
apparently like Starfighter. If they wound up making Matt
00:58:55
Smith Starkiller, if they finally brought back that that
00:58:58
character from Legends and made him right, wouldn't that be
00:59:02
really cool? That'd be pretty cool.
00:59:07
I feel like, I feel like starfighters going to have legs
00:59:10
on it. Like I, I, I just want it to be
00:59:12
good, you know, like if it's good, like then then hell yeah.
00:59:17
Because I feel like, dude, that's like that's, that's a
00:59:19
good idea for like the next thing, you know what I mean?
00:59:22
Like that that's like its own slice of and it's like it's, you
00:59:25
already know what kind of movie it's going to be.
00:59:27
It's just great. Anyway, we'll see, hopefully.
00:59:29
I'm very hopeful. And Ryan Gosling is just, he's
00:59:34
just so good at everything he's in.
00:59:35
So I'm excited do. You guys have like a what's your
00:59:40
favorite of the new Star Wars stuff like the post Disney do
00:59:44
you have? I always feel like that's
00:59:46
pretty. That's always like, OK, what?
00:59:48
What flavor is the most interesting thing to?
00:59:53
You, I would say personally it's Mandalorian cuz like that was
01:00:00
kind of like my real big jump point for Star Wars cuz like I
01:00:05
latched on to Mandalorian culture so hard that I was just
01:00:08
like, I gotta go watch all Clone Wars now.
01:00:13
Oh God I freaking loved. I love so much of Mandalorian.
01:00:17
It's. Great, I am so good.
01:00:20
It's some frog lighting anyway, sorry.
01:00:24
Like dude, every time freaking Baby Yoda eating them eggs.
01:00:27
I was like, girl, I was like. Boba.
01:00:30
Yeah, I was like, it's boba. No, stop eating it.
01:00:35
It was so good. I was like, that's such a such a
01:00:37
good heat that he's just eating her, the remaining of her
01:00:40
species. Like it's so good.
01:00:42
Oh my gosh, it was. I was like, that's incredible.
01:00:50
That is pretty funny. I really love Rebels and I know
01:00:53
I've said it before and I really, really think like Rebels
01:00:57
is probably one of the most foundational things too in Star
01:01:00
Wars. And I think people overlook it
01:01:02
because they think, oh, it's an animated series, It's probably
01:01:04
for kids. But the lore established in that
01:01:07
show and the characters are I think are just I just I love it.
01:01:13
I think it's my favorite. I'll die on the hill, but it's,
01:01:15
it's my, it's the best Star Wars content.
01:01:19
But I also have recently been. Because like, oh, sorry, go
01:01:23
ahead. OK.
01:01:23
Yeah, yeah, No, I go. I was going to say because I
01:01:27
think it's real, you know, like relegated to like the kids show
01:01:30
or whatever. It's it also gets the benefit of
01:01:33
the freedom it was able to like do what it did, You know what I
01:01:37
mean? Right.
01:01:39
And I mean it goes some in some dark places.
01:01:43
And I I think that people don't realize it because it's like
01:01:46
again, they think it's an animated show.
01:01:48
It was on like Disney or whatever.
01:01:50
It goes real dark. I mean, it's pretty, I'm just
01:01:55
going to say like Canaan stuff, you know, like.
01:01:58
Oh God. But I've also been reading the
01:02:05
new The High Republic books. I just started trying to get
01:02:08
through all the High Republic books and they I've read about 3
01:02:13
or 4, like I'm going in chronological order and they're
01:02:16
so good. They're just so good.
01:02:19
I haven't read a lot of them but I am familiar with like some
01:02:22
Mark Guggenheim is writing the comics or no, he's writing Jedi
01:02:26
Knights. I'm sorry but that was what was
01:02:28
in my mind. Sorry I overlapped, but well,
01:02:31
that's. Good Jedi Knights is great.
01:02:34
Yeah, we're both kind of doing the stand alone thing, which is
01:02:37
with the kind of like a be connecting B pop.
01:02:39
But yeah, no, it's it's really fun.
01:02:41
What did you guys think of Acolyte?
01:02:46
We talked, we actually like off camera.
01:02:49
I have talked about this and we're going to get heat.
01:02:52
I know we're going to get heat right?
01:02:55
You'd prefer but or or accept. We can all accept the heat.
01:03:00
OK, I, I, I going for, I'm just going to go for the heat.
01:03:04
You're going to come have me. I mean, whatever.
01:03:06
It wasn't good. No.
01:03:09
OK, not only was it not good, but like, you go out, you went
01:03:13
ahead and you cast Carrie Anne Moss and Lee Jung Jai, and
01:03:17
that's what you did with them. So.
01:03:22
We killed our girl in the first scene.
01:03:27
So here's the thing about Accolade is that it's actually
01:03:31
maybe after Andorra, my favorite Star Wars thing to talk about
01:03:36
because it's like it's trying to get, there's so much
01:03:43
conceptually there, so much there conceptual that is really
01:03:45
interesting. There's so much there.
01:03:48
I was like, yeah, if you like read the Wikipedia summary of
01:03:51
each of the episodes, you're like, that sounds like really
01:03:53
interesting. And then you watch the episode
01:03:55
and you're like, what is happening?
01:04:00
Like these? This doesn't make any sense.
01:04:04
So I find it so weird. It's like such an interesting
01:04:07
project, you know what I mean? Like, I I, yeah, I love talking
01:04:11
about it because I'm like, there's so, so many things.
01:04:13
I feel like an execution went sideways on them.
01:04:18
But like, again, the intention is like, I, I get it.
01:04:22
There's like something there also, mainly just into his arms.
01:04:28
That one. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:04:31
Like literally I have a tab on my phone on my Internet Explorer
01:04:34
that's just like a Tumblr post of his arms.
01:04:39
She's so real for that. That's us, Yeah, you gotta send.
01:04:42
I'm gonna, I'm absolutely just gonna e-mail it to you both
01:04:46
immediately after we're done because it's like, it's just
01:04:48
like on. It's just, it's still on here.
01:04:51
It's like number tab 50 and I'm never gonna get rid of it.
01:04:56
See, we're gonna, we're gonna have to have Gabby like pop that
01:04:58
up on the screen for everyone to say the editing.
01:05:04
Done. No, and and and his character
01:05:06
like it could have been so much more like it.
01:05:11
It was super interesting to see even just like just physically,
01:05:15
just the way he thought was really unique and and the things
01:05:18
that he did. Like there was a lot of
01:05:19
potential there. But I think that they should
01:05:22
just like just do a prequel where it's just the Lee Jung Jai
01:05:28
and Carrie Ann Moss and call it a day.
01:05:32
Yeah, I mean like next level casting, like really, really
01:05:36
great. And then it's just like it's
01:05:38
like just like really weird, like logical questions.
01:05:41
Like at the end it's like why why is he letting her go?
01:05:44
Like, why is this like, huh, Like do they do we miss a
01:05:48
conversation here? Do you know what I mean?
01:05:49
Like it's just like, just like execution wise, it was just
01:05:52
like, huh. But yeah, yeah, it's weird.
01:05:55
So much, so much cool ideas. So many cool ideas.
01:06:01
And it's just strange that that for Star Wars first High
01:06:05
Republic set project like on TV, live action, whatever, that
01:06:11
that's what they chose when they have like an entire series of
01:06:14
High Republic books that they could have pulled from.
01:06:17
Like that was weird too. I mean, I, I mean, this is me
01:06:23
guessing, but again, I think it's, it's because like when
01:06:25
they talk to a creative, they're really open.
01:06:27
You know, they're like, I think this was like really shepherded
01:06:30
by Leslie Hedlund. That right.
01:06:33
That's her name, Leslie Ann Hedlund.
01:06:35
They get that right anyway. Yeah.
01:06:38
Like, I feel like she pitched it and they're like, yeah, they're
01:06:41
game for it, which is like, I think a testament to, to, to to
01:06:45
the people the, you know, the brain trust there and like
01:06:47
people who they want to do interesting things and not all
01:06:50
of it will hit all the time. But yeah, I don't know.
01:06:54
It's, it is. It is.
01:06:56
I think it's cool. They did a High Republic thing.
01:06:58
I just, you know, yeah. I wish the execution was a
01:07:00
little bit better, but I don't know.
01:07:01
Would we get heat for thinking that?
01:07:03
I don't know. I feel like a lot of people have
01:07:07
polarizing opinions about alkaline.
01:07:11
I think my biggest thing is that all of the shipping really
01:07:14
ruined any type of enjoyment that I could have for it.
01:07:18
It was Ray Low all over again. Yeah, it was.
01:07:21
It was. Please don't mention Kylo Rey on
01:07:26
my podcast. Kylo Ren.
01:07:30
Kylo Ren, Oh. My God, yeah.
01:07:34
No, we won't. We won't get into that.
01:07:36
It's OK, I'm joking. I'm joking.
01:07:37
I'm joking. No, no, no, no, no, no, it's
01:07:39
cool. No, I just have like a very just
01:07:43
mom centric thought around Kylo Brown, which is a weird thing to
01:07:47
go into, but anyway. But yeah, Anyway, yeah, I think
01:07:51
Accolade is super, super. Yeah, the shipping was weird.
01:07:55
I was like because it wasn't like based on anything.
01:07:58
It was like. Yeah.
01:07:59
Yeah, this is like again. It feels like we're missing
01:08:02
crucial scenes or some sort of explanation or missing
01:08:06
conversations to get us to why that even happened.
01:08:08
But anyway. I'll be honest I never watched
01:08:13
the last episode because I know that Lee Jong Jae dies and I
01:08:17
love master Soul and I was like I'm not I can't I can't do it
01:08:20
like I just read the Wikipedia page cuz I didn't want to see
01:08:23
him die. I.
01:08:25
Mean, it's very fair. I mean, it's absolutely fair.
01:08:29
He was so good. He was just.
01:08:32
He's such A and he's such a great actor.
01:08:35
I mean, it's just like you again, talk about what like kind
01:08:38
of the theme of like kind of ambiguously, not good, not bad,
01:08:43
right? Like he's that's the whole thing
01:08:45
they're exploring with him in that in that series.
01:08:50
He as an actor, though, you're like, you're so sympathy.
01:08:55
I don't know. You just like have a lot of
01:08:56
feelings for him as an actor. You just don't want anything bad
01:08:59
to happen to him. Right.
01:09:02
He plays the role so almost fatherly, like he's so soft and
01:09:07
so like, you know, you want, you're like, Oh, no, he can do
01:09:10
whatever he wants. Yeah, he's trying.
01:09:14
You know, he's trying so hard. Wait, I want to know your
01:09:18
motherly thoughts on Kylo Ren. Now I have to go back to that.
01:09:22
OK, sorry, this is this is I don't know Anyway, well, now I'm
01:09:29
making it a bigger thing. Basically this is this.
01:09:31
It's just a funny thought, which is that basically when I when
01:09:34
you're a mom in the first like early days, like you're just
01:09:38
like, I like combed my hair for this, right?
01:09:40
Like you're just a total like slob.
01:09:43
And literally the, the like kind of image that constantly pops
01:09:49
into my head of like what I must look like when I'm in the early
01:09:52
days of like child rearing and coming home from the hospital is
01:09:55
literally that like weird shirtless shot of Kylo Ren where
01:10:00
he's like got the world. Like it's like because it's
01:10:02
like, it's like I'm a mom. I'm not wearing a shirt or bra
01:10:05
at home because like I'm just feral.
01:10:08
And then I'm wearing like tights and he's like, that's what he's
01:10:11
wearing. He's literally shirtless and
01:10:14
wearing like Lululemon tights or something.
01:10:18
And he's like got this weird, you know?
01:10:20
Yeah, he's like that. But like, it's up to, it's like
01:10:22
right under his like, chest and it's like he looks like
01:10:25
freaking. He's got like a weird square
01:10:27
body. Like he's like old man buff.
01:10:29
It's weird. And like, I'm like, oh, that's,
01:10:33
that's how I looked for like the first three weeks of like having
01:10:37
a child. Adam Driver, can we send this to
01:10:41
his people? Because I love Adam Driver too,
01:10:45
which is makes me feel bad for being like the number one Kylo
01:10:48
Ren hater. Because I love Adam Driver.
01:10:52
That, that picture, I'm like, literally I'm going to pull it
01:10:56
up. Just I know you guys can pull it
01:10:57
up later and it'll look way better, but like, it's literally
01:11:02
what I think about like the entire time I'm like, that's my
01:11:13
thought. That's that was my, that was my
01:11:14
deep Kylo Ren. I was just like, yeah, that's
01:11:19
Kylo Ren discourse. It's like your mom, you're at
01:11:23
home constantly feeding your kid with your, you know, your boob,
01:11:26
you're breastfeeding and you're just like not wearing a shirt.
01:11:29
Yeah, I was like, I look like shit and like I feel I'm so
01:11:33
tired. I haven't slept.
01:11:35
And this is like, this is how This is why I identify as.
01:11:42
So if I don't know if you guys have kids or if you will have
01:11:45
kids, but if you do and maybe that's a thought that'll come
01:11:48
into your mind at some point, it's.
01:11:52
It's so like you said that I'm like, I get that, I think.
01:11:56
I can see it. Yeah, it's because he's wearing
01:12:00
like tights. It's like he's wearing high
01:12:03
waisted like freaking work athleisure, dude.
01:12:06
Like it's crazy. Anyway.
01:12:16
Oh my God, I hope that that's up in a in Charlie Charles Soul's
01:12:22
Legacy of Vader run. He should just like it.
01:12:24
Randomly put in a scene where he's in those tights again.
01:12:27
Just throw it in. If this is the take away of like
01:12:31
my impact on Star Wars, it's just like this one, this one
01:12:36
thought I've had, I'd be happy. I was like breastfeeding moms.
01:12:43
Breastfeeding moms fresh from home from the hospital identify
01:12:46
with the shirtless Kylo Ren. That's it, I.
01:12:52
Love that is my is. I said that my favorite favorite
01:12:55
discourse ever about Kylo Ren. I like this.
01:12:59
That's my contributing, Kylo Ren thought.
01:13:01
I don't have anything more to say.
01:13:04
I feel like that's valid. Not as much as we have.
01:13:08
Yeah, I was like, I want anything more, you know, that's
01:13:12
about it. And I do love Adam Driver as
01:13:14
well, by the way. Yeah, it's like we love, we love
01:13:18
Adam Driver, but really like. Yeah, that's what we've got.
01:13:23
This is what I have. I think that's my like that's
01:13:25
the. Legacy right there.
01:13:27
I think that's the best. Sorry, someone like drew him
01:13:33
hotter on someone. Sorry someone.
01:13:36
I'm so sorry. So I just saw someone redrew him
01:13:39
on Deviant art as like kind of like hotter.
01:13:42
And I'm like, no, no, this this is what he looks like.
01:13:48
OK. No, we don't.
01:13:53
You don't get to go back. That's no he.
01:13:55
Didn't have a natural waist, guys.
01:13:57
No, he did not have defined pecs in the original image.
01:14:03
And so that's what we're, that's what everyone is living with it.
01:14:07
It's Canon. We we have to live with it.
01:14:11
Adam Driver has to live with it. Fandom has to live with it.
01:14:15
You don't get to go back. Make him like freaking like
01:14:18
Timothy Chalamet a buff or something, I don't know.
01:14:24
It's like the SNL sketch where he's he's the radar tech and
01:14:27
he's like I heard Kylo Ren has an 8 pack Like that's like what
01:14:30
I. That's what I'm thinking of
01:14:33
because no Kylo has an 8 pack. It's like Sir, he does not, he
01:14:40
does not have an 8 bag. He's just, he's just a human
01:14:45
being like the rest of us. He's like every new mother.
01:14:51
Yeah, he's like a freaking new mom.
01:14:53
He's got a new mom bod anyway. I think I think that this has
01:15:02
been my favorite. Part.
01:15:03
That's where we're gonna end. That's where we're gonna end.
01:15:06
Yeah. We've talked like about so many
01:15:08
good things, but like this last segment is just like perfect.
01:15:16
And you should know, clip, just clip this out.
01:15:19
You can clip this part out for social media.
01:15:24
Tag Adam Driver in it. Yeah, dude, you want me to
01:15:28
repost it, I'll like just do at Adam at Adam at Adam at.
01:15:34
I mean, that's all I'll do 'cause I was like, I want him to
01:15:36
see it. I want him to know.
01:15:40
He's out here representing new moms and doesn't even know it.
01:15:44
I know. I think he's too wise to be on
01:15:46
social media though. Good for him.
01:15:49
I don't think he would handle it well.
01:15:54
He's like, very. Neat.
01:15:55
He's like an actor. He's like really sensitive about
01:15:58
his. Yeah, they're really sensitive.
01:16:00
Yeah. So I was like, dude, don't do
01:16:02
it. Don't, don't go on here.
01:16:06
Oh my goodness. Anyways.
01:16:10
We'll have you back for our We'll have you back for our Kylo
01:16:14
Ren hater episode. Yeah.
01:16:19
I've like I still Remember Me watching that last movie and I'm
01:16:22
just like dude y'all should you should kiss just to have me feel
01:16:26
something. Please kiss so that I can just
01:16:33
Anyway stuck with this later this.
01:16:40
Has been great. This has been so good.
01:16:43
I don't know if it's controversial, who knows?
01:16:45
OK, No, thank you for having me. No, it's like, I think our, our,
01:16:50
we would say like we just want to kind of just be ourselves and
01:16:53
be like chaotic as on this. Like it's not really filtered
01:16:57
right? And I I towards the end?
01:17:01
Definitely not. Oh my goodness.
01:17:08
Right. You're great.
01:17:09
You're great interviewers by the way.
01:17:10
You're great. I know you're saying you're
01:17:12
typically interview people, but like this is so the questions
01:17:16
are great and you know, we're still getting into it, so it's
01:17:18
helpful. Oh, thank you.
01:17:22
I'm glad that you had fun. Thank you so much Cherish for
01:17:26
making time for us and your new mom life.
01:17:31
It really does mean a lot. This was really great.
01:17:34
I'm so excited to read about AFRA now.
01:17:39
I I hope that this isn't the only time that you get to write
01:17:42
in Star Wars. I hope that there's more from
01:17:45
you and that you actually get to explore all of those things that
01:17:49
you wanna explore in our expansive Galaxy.
01:17:54
Yeah, thank you. Right.
01:17:55
Thank you both for having me. The last I hope it's not the
01:17:58
last time you come talk to us 'cause this has been a lot of
01:18:01
fun. The vibes were Immaculate.
01:18:05
Give me a shout whenever and we'll jump on.
01:18:08
Absolutely. Well, so just when is the next
01:18:12
issue of AFRA coming out? The next issue is kind of what's
01:18:18
new mom brain hold on, what's the Denita calendar?
01:18:21
It is coming out next Wednesday the 27th issue 3.
01:18:26
